The PS/2 series of computers was a dramatic departure from the previous machines produced by IBM. The Model 80 was the first IBM Computer to use the Intel 80386 processor. However, it did not sell particularly well. The main reason for this was that it replaced ISA slots (which had become standard) with new Micro Channel Architecture (MCA) slots. Most people were unwilling to spend the money to replace all of their ISA cards.
Interesting historical fact: the machine in this museum was the first server on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin.
